USA: 'I just want to beat his ass, as simple as that' – Wilder on upcoming bout with Tyson Fury

Heavyweight boxing champion Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs) spoke with the press via an online video platform from his home in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday, ahead of the anticipated trilogy clash against Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) on October 9.

Wilder was set to defend the heavyweight world title on July 24 but was delayed after his opponent Tyson Fury tested positive for COVID-19.

The American fighter stated that the delay was a blessing in disguise.

“The more they delayed it, the more time we had to work on our craft and art and go even more strategically over the game plan that we’re going to have come October 9,” Wilder stated.

Over five years, the Tuscaloosa native made ten successful title defences holding the World Boxing Council (WBC) title before losing to Fury in 2020 after a seventh-round stoppage.

“Like I said, I want it back in blood. So that’s up to me. So, come October 9, I will get my revenge. You’ve seen the shirts we had made, ‘Glaz za glaz’, an eye for an eye, and that’s what I’m looking forward to,” Wilder explained.
