USA: Lavrov and Mekdad hold talks at UN General Assembly sidelines in New York

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad held talks which were closed for the journalists on the UN General Assembly sidelines in New York on Thursday.

Before the meeting, Lavrov asked Faisal Mekdad when he’d arrived in New York. The Syrian Foreign Minister replied that he’d arrived on Monday. Lavrov flew to the United States the day before. Then the journalists left the office.

Earlier Sergey Lavrov arrived in New York to participate in the UN General Assembly. According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, the Russian ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov, and the Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya met Lavrov on the runway.

The Russian Foreign Minister has already managed to meet with a number of world politicians, including NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and British Foreign Minister Elizabeth Truss on the UN General Assembly sidelines.
