USA: New Yorkers protest against Line 3 pipeline replacement

Around a dozen of protesters gathered at JP Morgan Chase and Co headquarters in New York City on Friday to protest against the Line 3 pipeline which is set to be operational in several weeks.
Protesters held banners and stood at the entrance of the gates with large signs decrying the project. One protester described the construction as ‘ecocide.’
Gary Fielding, an organiser, said, “They all recently approved loans to continue building the Line 3 pipeline out in Minnesota that is crossing indigenous lands, destroying treaty rights, taking billions of gallons of water, leaking, of course, pipelines always leak. It’s against the wishes of the indigenous people and their land, and it’s absolutely what we cannot afford to build right now.”
The Line 3 pipeline stretches from Alberta in Canada to Wisconsin in the US. The line is reportedly almost finished and could start working as early as mid-September.
