Hundreds gathered for the 119th Coney Island Polar Bear Club New Year’s Swim in New York City on Saturday, with some seen braving the cold waters, while others watched the daredevils.
Bathers, some dressed in costumes, jumped into the Atlantic Ocean waters of around 10 degrees Celsius (50 Fahrenheit). Lifeguards were on standby for safety.
The Coney Island Polar Bear Club is the oldest winter swimming club in the United States founded in 1903.
