USA: Patriots for America militia group patrol southern border to block immigration

Members of the Patriots for America militia group went out on patrol at the southern border near Del Rio on Sunday. The group is seeking to help local law enforcement detain undocumented migrants who cross the frontier into the US.

Samuel Hall and his team of armed militia were seen setting off on patrol in a pick-up truck bound for the border with Mexico. On foot and carrying automatic rifles the group then scouted the area looking for signs of recent arrivals.

Hall explained the mission by way of a recent incident involving migrants spotted on the US side of the border.

“We saw people jumping on the train and going between the rail cars and so we ended up chasing them off again just to be a deterrent not to detain or make any arrests but just to be a deterrent to help the DPS [Department of Public Safety] and the county sheriff,” he said.

Hall said the group try to ‘funnel’ migrants into a certain area where border forces can detain them. “That’s how we’ve been working with law enforcement,” he stated.

Hall and his team have stepped up the patrols amid a large increase in migration into the US across the southern frontier. The US Border patrol have made close to 1.7 million migrant apprehensions over the past 12 months, the highest volume ever.
