USA: Peloton temporary halts production of exercise bikes as demand drops

New Yorkers reacted to the temporary halt in manufacturing of Peloton-branded fitness bikes, Friday, as consumer demand dipped and shares of the company dropped.

“I think probably they overproduced many bikes during the pandemic and now that not many people like them, they are not as necessary,” commented one resident.

A Manhattan Peloton branch could be seen advertising specials on its prices.

‘People don’t need to spend 2,000 dollars on a machine that is going to sit at home collecting dust,” another local said.

The company will stop producing its bikes in February and March, as well as the manufacture of its treadmill machine for six weeks. Following the announcement, Peloton stocks declined as much as 27 percent on Thursday.
