Large crowds gathered to watch surfers dressed up in Christmas-themed costumes hit the waves on the day of Christmas Eve as the Cocoa Beach Surfing Santa event returns to Florida after last year’s cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hundreds of spectators and participants could be seen dressed up according to this year’s theme ‘Space CoastSpaceX-mas’ as they listened to live music and took part in costume competitions.
Former American football pro player Doug Flutie jumped from a helicopter into the water to celebrate the return of the famous holiday tradition.

Officials estimated the attendance at around 10,000 people watching nearly 400 registered Santas’ riding their surfboards at the Florida beach.
