Japanese unicyclist and Cirque Du Soleil hopeful Aya Nagasaka displayed her remarkable one-wheeled skills in a gym in Shizouka on Thursday.
Her amazing choreography, she says, is inspired by the music which she dances to.
“I often perform according to the image of the song, imagining it in my mind. I tend to get into my own world quite a lot, and I always try to enter my own world and enjoy performing as I like,” stated Aya.
Aya, who has been enjoying this fabulous sport since she was six has her heart set on some day being in a position to work at it full time. She aspires to perform with Cirque Du Soleil in the future.
The unique unicyclist explained that her secret is to never give up and continue getting up each time she falls down.
“I fall, quite a few times. When practicing a new technique, there are times when I fail. But well, the more mistakes you make, the more you can do, so I don’t be afraid to make mistakes. I think the most important thing is to set goals and do your best.” explained Aya.

SOT, Aya Nagasaka, Unicyclist (Japanese): “When I was six years old, I met some kids who were doing unicycling. At that time, I really enjoyed unicycling.”

SOT, Aya Nagasaka, Unicyclist (Japanese): “At first, I was very scared, but as I rode, the feeling of fear disappeared and eventually I felt that it was great fun.”

The reason why I’ve been doing unicycling is because it’s the only sport that I’ve been told by many people that I’m amazing in. Since most of people had never seen this sport before, I was often told that it was amazing, and that made me really happy.”

SOT, Aya Nagasaka, Unicyclist (Japanese): “I’ve had one dream since I was a little girl. My goal is to act in Cirque du Soleil, and I want to make my dream come true in the end. I’m not currently an active unicyclist (since I am working), but I hope that one day my dream will come true and I will be able to perform in Cirque du Soleil.
