It’s been seven decades since the lie that lead to the horrific killing of a black teenager, but the legacy of Emmett Till’s death lingers on even now.

The brutal lynching left the 14-year-old unrecognisable to even his own mother - whose decision to leave his casket open laid bare the persecution black Americans faced in the southern states.

A Mississippi grand jury have declined to indict the woman whose accusations against Till triggered a chain of events that led to his death.
