Saudi coalition airstrikes hit the capital city of Sana’a and an aviation college west of the city on Sunday.

Footage shows people sifting through the rubble outside and inside their homes in the aftermath of the coalition airstrikes.

The airstrikes come just a day after a projectile, allegedly fired from Yemen, landed and killed two people in Jizan, a region in the south of Saudi Arabia bordering Yemen. This was the first deadly attack to hit the kingdom since 2018.

The anti-Houthi coalition has been intervening in Yemen since 2015 to support government forces against the Houthis after they captured the capital Sana’a in 2014, subsequently unleashing a war that sparked one of the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

SOUNDBITES:

SOT, Resident (Arabic): “We were safe in our homes and the flight came in for the third time bombing my house. This is the third time that I repair damage, what is the sin committed by the Yemeni people that needs to be fought against?

SOT, Resident (Arabic): “It was nine o’clock in the evening and I was gathering with my children. Suddenly we heard the rocket land next to the house like this. There is nothing to fear, the children and women. We lived in a state of terror.”

SOT, Resident (Arabic): “There was a bombing here, houses were damaged, women were terrified, and some of the children fainted.”
