Our Community Correspondent, Raju Parteti, reports from Shrijhot village of Tamiya block in the Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh, which is facing an acute water shortage due to the malfunctioning of the village's four hand-pumps. Out of these four, only one is in working condition, but even this provides a meager stream of water. This insufficient supply drives several villagers to the neighbouring village for water, while others attempt to gather water from the primitive village well which doesn't have any convenient water-drawing machinery in place. The onset of summer means that the village undergoes severe water scarcity for 3 months, making life for the residents a daily struggle. CALL TO ACTION: You can call the Village Head, Mr. Bhujlubai Bharti, on +91-8989231174, and pressurize him into addressing the lack of access to water in Shrijhot village. About the Partnership: The Poorest Areas Civil Society (PACS) Programme and Video Volunteers have come together to create the Community Correspondents Network. The videos generated by the network will be able to highlight voices from the margins, providing skills to social communicators to provide advocacy tools to community based organisations.
