10 ridiculous achievements that drove us insane

We all have a little cemetery outside where we keep the remains of our broken controllers and keyboards. For some of us, this little place of electronic rest is bound to be quite full, because we tried getting the ungettable achievements. We attempted what no sane human would even think to attempt. And our controllers paid the price for our stubborn desire to gain a few extra gamerscore or shiny trophies. So sit back, and remember the fallen hardware while we list the 10 achievements that drove us insane. #1 Mile High Club - Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare We still get nervous ticks when the Mile High Club achievement gets mentioned. Flashbacks to the endless pseudo-philosophical quotes about how bad warfare is while playing a first person shooter. The mission? 60 seconds to clear two floors of an airplane packed to the brim with enemies. #2 Bladder of Steel - Rock Band 2 Have you got seven hours to spare? Perfect! Then you can give the Bladder of Steel achievement in Rock Band 2 a go. What do you have to do? Oh, it’s quite simple, just play every song in the game in a row without failing any song, or stopping for pauses. #3 Clean Hands - Dishonoured This is an achievement for all the pacifists out there. The “Clean Hands” achievement in Dishonoured requires you to finish the game. Without killing anyone. At all. The developers did add in some leeway for this task, however. For example, things indirectly killed by Corvo won’t lock the achievement. #4 Impossible Boy - Super Meat Boy It’s a bad sign when only 0.9% of all Steam users have completed this achievement. The objective is fairly straightforward, complete the Cotton Alley Dark World without dying. See? Looks easy enough right? #5 Aperture Science - Portal This is one for the true masochists among us. The Aperture Science achievement requires the player to get a gold rating in every portal challenge on a few different test chambers. Each chamber is broken down into three types of challenges. Time, Steps, and Portals. #6 7 day survivor - Dead Rising So here’s the rundown; your character will die of starvation every 20 minutes (in real time, not game time). The food and drink required to sustain you doesn’t respawn. The food and drink required to sustain you is scattered around a shopping mall infested with zombies. The task? Survive for 14 real life hours, non-stop, without being able to save your progress. #7 The Inhuman Achievement - Guitar Hero 3 Ah, the inhuman achievement. How does one achieve said inhumanity you ask? By playing Through the Fire and Flames by Dragon Force on expert. Now, you don’t necessarily have to 100% it, just pass it. But where’s the fun in that? #8 World Champion - Ghost Recon Warfighter Before we start here, this achievement is impossible to get now, because it takes place in multiplayer and the servers are no longer active. Having said that, this wasn’t exactly a breeze when the servers for Ghost Recon: Warfighter were active either. A player was required to reach number 1 on the global leader boards. #9 Mr. Perfect - Mega Man 10 Fancy yourself to be just a tad perfect? Are you the gaming embodiment of Zlatan Ibrahimovic? Then the “Mr. Perfect” achievement in Mega Man 10 is there for you to conquer. All you have to do is finish the game. Without getting hit. #10 The Shadows Rushed Me - Max Payne 3 Who doesn’t love a good time trial? A throwback to the old days of arcade gaming where players clamored for that extra bit of time with each passing enemy. Well, “The shadows rushed me” in Max Payne 3 is exactly such a throwback.
