Hello my name is Jody and I would like you to find a position that is comfortable for you. This meditation is intended to help you fall asleep so lying down on a bed or a sofa might be very nice or you may like to find a comfortable chair. You could adopt your favourite meditation posture and use this recording to prepare yourself for a long deep comfortable restorative sleep and this would be a good idea if you are in the habit of meditating before going to bed. I'm sure whatever you choose to do will be the right choice as long as you make yourself comfortable. I am going to see if I can find some magic words to help guide you into a meditative state where you are deeply relaxed and will be able to drift off to sleep easily, naturally, and effortlessly. If you fall asleep before this meditation is over that will be wonderful and it is likely there will still be a part of your mind processing the information to help you sleep even more deeply and soundly so you can awake when you choose to feeling rested, refreshed, and ready to do what needs to get done. Now is the time to begin and towards the end the sound of my voice will fade away leaving you to sleep and have pleasant dreams. If at any time you find the sound of my voice or following my instructions bothersome you are to allow my words to fade into the background or dissolve into gibberish and enjoy the sacred still quiet space within your own mind following your relaxed peaceful sleepy feelings deeper into relaxation and deeper into sleep. When the time comes and this sound becomes quieter this can be your cue to sink gently deeper into sleep and happy dreams feeling completely safe and secure...and here we go, if you are comfortable and have closed your eyes, only if you are comfortable closing your eyes, this is the best way to harness the power of your full attention. If your eyes are not ready to close just yet, that's OK simply focus them on the empty space two feet in front of your face and when you grow tired, or your eyelids feel heavy, sleepy, or droopy you can just allow them to relax closed when they want to. Let's start by bringing our attention to the most basic aspect of our human experience..awareness of the body..taking interest in the physical experience of being here right now..this is easy to do..just be aware of what if feels like to be in your body as it is right now...it's that simple to just feel your body...so you could feel for example where your body is pressing down on whatever you are sitting or lying on right now...you could feel your back, behind, the backs of your legs bearing your weight...feel how these parts of your body feel as they are in contact with this surface..feeling them touch a bed or chair perhaps..and the trick with this meditation is learning to maintain a sustained attention..even if you aren't paying attention..this may sound contradictory but it isn't really..you are the one in control of your attention and you may guide it any way you choose...you may focus on the sound of my voice, my words, to the things I call to mind for you..or you may make the decision to shift your focus to whatever pleases you...either way you are putting yourself in charge of your own mind...
