A hybrid can only go about 50km/h on electric power, has slow acceleration, and can only travel about 1.6km on electric power only. The Volt can go up to 160km/h, has fast accleration, and travel up to 80km on electric power. - Can travel up to 80km on battery charge alone - Up to 500km combined range with gas generator - Designed based on the 80/80 principle, 80% of commuters travel 80km or less roundtrip daily - 8yr/160,000km warranty on the battery and it's components - 16 kWh battery - Battery has liquid thermal heating/cooling system to keep it running at the optimal temperature - 120v charger takes 10hrs - 240v charger takes 4hrs - Uses regenerative braking, coasting, to store energy to be used later - 160km/h top speed - Equipped with GoodYear Assurance Fuel Mass tires to decrease rolling resistance by 20% and increase Volt's range by 4% - 8 airbags standard - Comes with 3 years of OnStar Directions and Connections plan which includes 24/7 emergency service, automatic crash response, and Navigation - Standard 7 inch touchscreen for radio controls, climate controls, optional Nav system - Bose Premium sound system with 6 speakers - 30% smaller than a traditional sound system and 50lb lighter, making it more energy effecient but does not sacrifice the capability. - Volt, at that time the generator will turn on automatically and burn off the fuel so that it does not lose it's power. - Available rear view camera, front and rear park assist - Three unique driving modes: -- Normal, for everyday usage, most efficient. -- Sport, sacrifices some efficiency for more responsive acceleration. -- Mountain, battery has bigger energy reserve for driving up steep inclines. - With the gas powered generator powering the battery once the electric charge runs out, it removes the "range anxiety" that customers fear with electric only vehicles. - Fuel system is pressurized so that fuel does not go stale if it is not used.
