The video of Mrs. Old Goat in the Woods & myself hiking at Mantle Rock is up! If you didn't catch my previous photo post of this hike on my Facebook or Instagram pages, the wife wanted to get out of the house because it was going to be a wonderful day outside.
After being put on the spot, I suggested Mantle Rock. We'd been there before, but it's been a little while and she was game for it. We had the place all to ourselves, other than hearing the occasional sound of gun fire in the far distance (hunting season was in, or at least I hope it was).
We had a very pleasant hike, enjoying the last remnants of the Fall foliage, clear skies, birds chirping, & squirrels barking. Along with a stroll by an easy flowing stream. Yeah, pretty dang nice. I really like this trail for a few reasons; it helps educate about the suffering the Cherokee peoples endured during their forced relocation, there is an amazing sandstone natural arch, and my son & I had a small part of the larger effort in the trail's creation.
So, come along with us on this outing to a wonderful location of Western Kentucky that unfortunately is also part of a low point in our Country's history. I do urge you to visit, or revisit, and walk a portion of where they walked, and imagine what they had to endure.
