2020 Mercedes A45 AMG (M 139 - 421 PS - 500 Nm)

This Mercedes A45 AMG (M 139) engine pumps out outstanding 211 PS per litre. Can you believe it? This cute thing is complete new development of Mercedes-AMG and will appear in the latest Mercedes A45 AMG superhatch. With 2.0-litre capacity it is the most powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine in series production worldwide. In fact, it's power output - 421 PS and 500 newton metres from 2 litres - reminds of some fine rally cars. How come is it available for public road driving :) The all-new four-cylinder engine will be available in two output versions and both will ensure extraordinary performance for the compact Mercedes-AMG cars. The "weaker" version pumps out 380 PS, and the monster kicks 421 PS. That's +41 PS compared to the previous Mercedes A45 AMG. Engineers promise immediate response thanks to exceptionally lightweight turbocharger with ball bearings. This hot turbo has three-way cooling system: water, oil and air directed under the bonnet. And this will be a true sports engine with proper torque curve for fun and speed at high rpm: masimum thrust makes it's debut no earlier as at 5000 rpm. That's the guarantee for punchy and free-revving character. Mercedes-AMG engineers already set the benchmark with the previous engine and newly developed M 139 is another step forward in terms of what is possible in passenger cars for public road use. The production process is another story - assembly plant looks like laboratory and every tool is connected to the central computer with WLAN. As you see on the video, the most important job is made by the robots (which provide proper torque for each bolt).
