2D platform game from scratch in 48h - Ludum Dare 40 - Narrated Timelapse

This is a narrated timelapse of my Ludum Dare 40 (#LD40) game Robby & Coppy. It's a 2D platformer that I made in Unity. The graphics was made in Illustrator and the music in Cubase. You can play the game (web browser and windows) and you can download the entire Unity3D source project here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/robby-coppy - please rate the game if you get a chance. Ludum Dare 40 took place on the weekend 2-3 December 2017 and this was my fifth consecutive time of participating. With every event that goes by I enjoy the experience more and more and it's exciting to try to find time efficient methods of creating all the elements of a game whether it's design, code, graphics, animation, or audio. The theme of LD40 was "The more you have, the worse it is" and my game entry features a robber that blew up a bank during the night but it all went wrong and the coins were scattered across a classic style 2D platformer level. The robber has to pick up as many coins as he can but the more money he collects the worse it is in terms of his ability to run and jump. If you're too greedy and grab too many coins you may not be able to clear the gaps or outsmart the cops. The tools that I used were: Unity3D - 2D mode, ProCreate (for sketching on the iPad), Adobe Illustrator (to convert sketches into vector graphics), Cubase and VST instruments (for the music), a Sony PCM10 handheld recorder for source audio (also used for narrating this video), and Sound Forge to edit the sound effects. This time I could put a side more hours than usual for a LD event and I used roughly 32 hours of effective time out of the 48 possible hours. The game was finished right on the minute of the deadline and so far no serious game breaking bugs which is a welcome bonus. Please play and rate the game https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/robby-coppy and also visit my web site: https://www.imphenzia.com Don't forget to subscribe if you want to see more videos like this!
