INTERNATIONAL RAMAYANA FESTIVAL 2013 was held at Open Air Theatre, Prambanan Temple, Yogyakarta, Indonesia on September 5th - 10th, 2013. There were 9 participated countries who performed a story of Ramayana, based on their own version (Cambodia, India, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Indonesia which represented by Yogyakarta & Bali provinces). **** THE KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA 2nd Episode: "Rāma's Exile and The Coronation of Bhārata" performed by Dance Troupe of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts Performance Date : 6th of September 2013 Performance Time : 19:30 -- 20:00 When Rāma reached his city of Ayodhyā, his father Dasaratha wanted to put him on the throne. But his wife from the family of Kekayas (i.e., Kaikeyī), instigated by Kubjā (a hunchbacked maid-servant), was not happy over it. There was maid-servant Kubjā by name, who was very dear to Kaikeyī. She bore a feeling of hostility in her heart towards Rāma, for the insult inflicted on her by him in the past. The lady, crooked by body and by heart as she was, kept waiting for an opportunity. And the coronation of Rāma provided her with that. To take vengeance for the previous injury, the hunch-backed lady, burning in her heart, taking it as the right opportunity, went quickly to Kaikeyī. "Ask your husband for fourteen years exile to Rāma and the installation of Bhārata on the throne. Both the boons were promised to you earlier." "So be it" replied Kaikeyī to her and went to her husband. She said to him, encompassed by old age, "Grant me the two boons which have already been promised by you." The two boons, like a stroke of thunderbolt took away the life of the King. Rāma also, along with Sitā, went in exile to keep the word of his father. Preah Phirut (Bhārata) is the second brother of Preah Ream (Rāma), and the son of King Tossarath (Dasaratha) and Kai Kesey (Kaikeyī) (one of four children). He refused the throne and went to the forest to summon Preah Ream (Rāma) to return to Ayodhyā and be crowned King. Preah Ream (Rāma) refused the summon on the account that he must respect the decision of his father the late King Tossarath (dasaratha). Instead, he presented Preah Phirut (Bhārata) his sandal to take back to Ayodhyā. As the throne care-taker, Preah Phirut (Bhārata) officiated the Crowning Ceremony in absentia by placing Preah Ream's sandal on the throne, awaiting Preah Ream's return. ***** More info : www.irf2013.blogspot.com This event was held by Ministry of Education & Culture of Republic of Indonesia Organized by Multi Arta Mayida Event Organizer Contact: [email protected] Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/multiartamayida.eo/photos_albums Twitter : https://twitter.com/MAM_EO Instagram : https://instagram.com/MAM_EO Website : https://www.mam-eo.com Blog : https://www.mam-eo.blogspot.com
