6V6 Family of Tubes - Disassembly & Substitution Experiment

This video is all about the ubiquitous 6V6 tube and its family of tubes which share a similar pinout. We will first disassemble a 6V6 tube and discuss the various parts that make one operate, then we will talk about other tubes which can serve as drop in substitutes for a 6V6 in a pinch, or close variants requiring a few mods to your amp. At the end of the video, we'll give a listen to some close 6V6 substitutes in a single-ended guitar amplifier - the 6F6, 6F6G, 6F6GB, 6W6, and 6K6. Other tubes we will discuss include 6Y6, 6U6, 6EY6, 6EZ5 (aka 6EY5, a great candidate for a 6V6 sub), 6DG6, 6G6 and of course the 6L6.
