$75 R9 390 retired mining card vs GTX 970 in 2019 with 2015 games

I bought this R9 390 for $75, It was used for coin mining. The GTX 970 was purchased new in 2016 for $329. The 390 runs perfectly, no regrets. So how do these two compare in 2019? Pretty close except in games that require more than 3.5 GB of Vram. The GTX 970 is advertised as having 4 GB but only 3.5 is usable.
