This six part series, produced by Alexandre Ivankin at Contact Studio, Moscow, uses never before released films from the Russian archives and personal interviews. At the end of World War II, it is said that Josef Stalin led his countrymen to the greatest ever victory. He has been the architect of victory, the master strategist, or so his people believe. However, Stalin's most devastating victory so far as been his annihilation of the truth. When the Soviet Union fell in 1991, Russians gained unprecedented access to the KGB archives. This documentary series, produced in 1992 by Russian filmmakers, contained film and photos that had never been seen by the public before.
