A rust-gilled purple Cortinarius species has found a home camouflaged within this patch of Clitocybe nuda! It is incredibly important to be discerning when picking any wild edible, so always confirm your mushroom IDs with experts or on forums like the Shroomery before eating. While the purple Cortinarius in this patch is likely not one of the few deadly orellanine-containing species in the genus, it definitely pays to play it safe. Check all of your finds thoroughly, and to be safe save at least one specimen for the doctor if you really mess up.
