AC/DC Producer and Music Pioneer George Young Dead at 70 Many knew him as a member of The Easybeats with hits like “She's So Fine,” and “Wedding Ring” in 1965 Plus "Women (Make Me Feel Alright)," "Come and See Her," "Sorry" and "Friday On My Mind" in 1966. The latter was even recorded by David Bowie and Peter Frampton among others. He was known for also creating a new sound and writing hit for other acts. He also produced his brothers Angus an Malcolm Young in AC/DC. Without Young, AC/DC would not exist, the band said in a statement issued today. “It is with pain in our heart that we have to announce the passing of our beloved brother and mentor George Young. Without his help and guidance there would not have been an AC/DC. As a musician, songwriter, producer, adviser and much, much more, you could not ask for a more dedicated and professional man. As a brother, you could not ask for a finer brother. For all he did and gave to us throughout his life, we will always remember him with gratitude and hold him close to our hearts." The Young brothers were born in Glasgow and came to Australia in 1963. Vanda and Young wrote tunes we all heard like the disco hit, “Love is in the Air” for John Paul Young. The publishing house Alberts which represented Young Released the following statement, “It is with great sadness that Alberts acknowledge the passing of George Young,” it said in a statement. “A consummate songwriter, trailblazing producer, artist, mentor and extraordinary musician, George was above all else a gentleman who was unfailingly modest, charming, intelligent and loyal; a man with a wonderful sense of humour.”
