Advanced Lightsaber Animation with motion tracking in After Effects ? A Saber Tutorial

In this video I show you how you can make the animations of your lightsaber not only smooth but also very easy and fast. The way lightsabers were made was to create a mask on a white solid to build the basic form of the blade. This mask had to be animated frame by frame since even the smallest movement was noticeable. With the plugin saber from Video Copilot this process is already simplified. You now can use a start and end point for your blade. The core is highly customizable to create every possible variant of a lightsaber. This can be utilized by using Track points on the blade hilt. Often times the film prob for that lightsaber doesn't have a physical blade. For example if you want to show the extension of the blade. In those cases you don't have a guide where the blade should be. In this video I show you an easy method to use expressions to bypass that problem. Of course this is only usefull for scenes like a hero shot where the blade doesn't move fast. Quick movements still need frame by frame animation.
