Alien Isolation is set in 2137, 15 years after the events of Alien, 42 years prior to Aliens. Amanda is in search of her disappearing mother, Ellen Ripley. Gameplay focuses around survival and stealth. Although a crafting system can allow players to defend themselves, flight is preferred over fight. Gamers can go under tables, hide inside lockers (holding breath as well), and hit walls to create distractions. Alien will hunt based on distractions. Example: open locker, air lock, or ventilation shaft. Alien can detect humans by sight, sound, and smell. The game features one Alien throughout the duration of the game that cannot be killed.
