In the video, skip ahead to 0:45 seconds to see how it works.
The secret to this crutch is that the user is completely suspended, seated comfortably in a harness, gliding along, rather than being up on their wrists, armpits, or otherwise bolted to prosthetics. Furthermore, as the person leans sideways to take a step, he or she leans onto a single, *spring-loaded mast, supporting their bodyweight like a trusted friend.
Whether having a foot, knee, or total-leg injury, or having no leg at all, this crutch is the perfect solution! No more long hours holding oneself up by their palms, armpits or what-have-you. Detaching from the crutch is simple, and one stays surprisingly comfortable, if choosing to remain in the harness.
An amazing crutch so versatile it improves the lives of those dealing with total leg amputations, to those dealing with other leg disorders, better than traditional crutches and less expensive than prosthetics!
Development expense is naturally daunting. I am just your average guy with an idea that could help a lot of people! A five-dollar pledge really means a lot to me. What you are witnessing here is a project in its most-humble, initial stages and this specific crutch has never been done before.
The current prototype works well, but better materials are needed. If this minimum goal is reached, intellectual property rights could be finalized, acquiring superior building materials would be possible, and a marketing campaign could be put into place.
Now is the time to get this product out of its humble "grass-roots" phase and onto something much more useful for people. I believe the world needs an adjustable crutch just like this one. One that neatly carries a patient who may be suffering hip disarticulation, or who simply wishes to get around better than they would using traditional crutches. Think of it: A crutch system that anyone can pick up, learn to use and then adjust to their specific situation, without the expense of custom-made prosthetics!!!
Please, help me get this out there!

Thank you!
PS - The video is merely my way of taking us back to the days when I was in the Army, wishing I had something other than normal crutches to get around on. I was on crutches for over six months. This idea came to me shortly after, and, so, I built my dream innovation. This video is not trying to imply that the Army endorses this product in anyway.
* "spring-loaded mast" can also mean a mast-system more like that of a pole-vault instead of having a rigid mast with leaf-spring attached as a spring-loaded foot, as it is here in this demonstration video. The first embodiment, not shown here, was constructed March, 2013, and had no additional leaf-spring mechanism added as a foot. Instead, the spring-like nature of the original mast made it more like that of a pole-vault, where flexing the semi-flexible mast with slight upper-body movements provided stability. The addition of a leaf-spring foot and reinforcing the mast was done to provide additional stability in the first official prototype. It can be argued, with plenty of training and experience, the pole-vault version, having a much smaller foot, may be more desirable, however.
