American Idol's Layla Spring on Great Day Live

Layla joined GDL after making the Top 24 on American Idol. LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Marion County’s Layla Spring is headed to the next round of American Idol. This week on the ABC reboot, the judges threw the contestants a curveball by having them sing in front of an audience to see how well they can handle the pressures of Idol. It was no problem for Layla, who came out with her spunky charm and sang “Proud Mary”, made famous by the Creedence Clearwater Revival and later by rock icon Tina Turner. All three judges stood to their feet. She was the first contestant to make it to the Top 24. The contestants are expected to perform solo material and celebrity duets on next week’s telecast.
