An Old GP9 Under High Power Lays on the Horn

Video from February 2017: Long ago Canadian National purchased the Grand Trunk Railway in the same way as it did with BC Rail, EJ&E, Illinois Central, and many others. GT 4622, a GP 9, was never repainted in the CN colors. It still pulls trains between yards in the Chicago area, as well as pulling locals. In this video, the engine pulls a local train north through Barrington IL on the single track CN line that is used by freight trains to bypass Chicago. The signal for the junction with the UP NW Metra Line is red and the train slows down, but as it gets close the signal turns green and the engineer increases the power. Just then a bunch of kids run across the track after high school (just down the street). The engineer lays on the horn even though it's a quiet zone to get the kids off the track.
