ANAN 100 Benchtest Sine Wave - W1AEX

The ANAN-100 Hermes based SDR transceiver is running 10 watts of carrier with the AM mode. The line input of the ANAN is being fed a 1000 cps tone with a level that initially results in 100% modulation in the positive direction. The level is increased to the point where the transceiver is modulating 100% in the negative direction with greater than 100% modulation exhibited in the positive direction. This interesting ability is something many have observed with the SDR platform. As the audio level is further increased the classic balanced modulator "wavelet" phenomenon is displayed between the normal waveforms as modulation reaches 175% in the positive direction. When a signal like this is received with a synchronous detector it will sound clean and undistorted. When received with a classic diode detector it will often sound distorted.
