Ancient Yhyakh (Ысыах) Festival in YAKUTIA / RUSSIA

In Yakutia there is an ancient festival that is held on the summer solstice usually on or around June 21-22-23. The festival started 1,000 years ago but during Communist times was forbidden. The festival draws thousands of people from all over Yakutia and beyond to not only enjoy the festivities but also participate in the games and celebrations. We spent a full day there including the sun rise. It was one of the most awesome events of my life.
