He was born on September 29, 1940 in the city of Polotsk, Belarus. He took up draughts in 1953, his first trainer was Ivanov Georgij Efimovich. 1960 - Master of Sports, 1974 - Grand Master of the USSR, 1994 - International Grandmaster, 2005 - Honoured Master of Sports of Belarus. He participated in 29 championships of the USSR. Best results: Four-time Champion of the USSR - 1960, 1963, 1972, 1974. Draughts World Champion – 1994, Dzerzhinsk, Russia. He took third place in the world championship – 2000, Odessa, Ukraine. 16-time Draughts Champion of Belarus - 1960, 1962, 1964, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1973, 1974, 1984, 1987, 1990, 1995, 2002, 2009, 2010 and 1966 (draughts-100). He currently works as a trainer-instructor in the Government Establishment “Chess and Draughts Children's and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve №11” of the Educational Department, Minsk City Executive Committee.
