Arkansas Upper Buffalo Mountain Bike Trail System

This video should give you an idea of what the Upper Buffalo mountain bike trail system has to offer – which is A LOT. We typically ride around the Durango, CO area. Although the elevations aren't as high in Arkansas as they are in Colorado, there is no need to write off your elevation gain as some simple uphill burners. For some Texas boys, not fighting the lack of oxygen was a big plus to our stamina. If you like nice people, beautiful scenery, long climbs and super long downhills then you need to hit up these trails. It is a 7-hour drive from our homes in Dallas, TX. We stayed in the nearest larger city, Jasper, Arkansas at the Dogwood Cabin and RV Park. Ask for Jeff. Super nice guy. The cabin/RV park is walking distance to the local grocery store. We paid his kids to play with my border collie while we were off riding. Its about a 1-hour drive to and from the trail head. There are two ways to get there. You can take the 10 mile dirt road (5) which is long and slow and takes a while or Highway 16 around and come in from the back. We preferred coming in from the back. Also. It is IMPORTANT to note that the dirt roads are not marked on the map provided. Be sure you use a GPS to see the road system. We parked at Trail Head #1 and biked down/up the road to Fire Tower Loop Trail Head and then all around the whole system. You will have some climbing to do once you hit the creek. We climbed a little over 2500 feet in one day. The trails could use some color coded arrows to keep you moving along. They do have a great number/sign system which you will see reflected in this video. These trails are amazing. Two epic down hill runs will get your knobs excited – Fire Tower Loop and Azalea Falls Trail. Seriously. This is great stuff. Great flow and great rhythm. They did a mega awesome job on this trail.
