Song from Zagreb Song Festival 1982.
The Serbian female trio ASKA came out of the larger vocal group Pop Polifonija, active since later 1970s. Aska were formed for the Yugoslav pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 1982, which they won and represented Yugoslavia in Harrogate with the song "Halo, halo" (14th, 21 points). The song received the highest, 12 points from the Swedish jury on the night of the contest and had moderate chart success in Scandinavia. The original line-up of the group were: Snežana Mišković, Izolda Barudžija and Snežana Stamenković. Couple of months after Eurovision, they released their first album, which was actually a disco megamix record, divided in 4 sections -- a tribute to some of the most prominent rock bands and artists from former Yugoslavia (1: Indexi, 2: Bijelo Dugme, 3: Smak 4: Coctail (songs by Buldožer, Dado Topić, Generacija 5, Time, Riblja Čorba, Parni Valjak, Josipa Lisac, Azra)). In 1982 they also took part at Opatija ("Bežim") and Zagreb Pop Song Festival ("Budi fer"). Snežana Stamenković left the group shortly after, and retired from pop music. She now lives in Germany and sings classical music. She was replaced by Suzana Ristivojević (later Perović).
In 1983 Aska sang at Vaš Šlager Sezone ("Pored mene") and Split Song Festival ("Stranac moj"). Izolda Barudžija (with her sister Eleonora) was again on the Eurovision stage, as a back dancer/singer for the Yugoslav entry "Julie" (Daniel) and soon left the group. She was replaced by Neriman Mahmut-Nera.
In 1984, Snežana, Nera and Suzana recorded their second album "Katastrofa", followed by Suzana's departure from the group. She was replaced by Ivana Kuzmanović. They will round up the year singing at Belgrade's first Mesam Music Festival.
1985 brings two more festivals for Aska -- Opatija ("Vozi brže") and Mesam "Ljubi il' ostavi". At Mesam Nera makes her solo debut ("Hej, Osmane"), followed by few festival appearances, mostly on Mesam. She was also a back vocalist to Dejan Cukić, Bajaga i Instruktori, Ekaterina Velika and Van Gogh. The end is near. In 1986 Snežana Mišković forms the rock band Viktorija, which had a debut at Zagrebfest's Pop Top 24 ("Šarene ulice") and states that she will continue to work with both groups. Little is heard about Aska, but Viktorija rises to fame in the next period. Aska officially split up after they took part at the Big Adriatic tour in the summer of 1987.
Snežana Mišković continued her established career with her band Viktorija. Ivana Kuzmanović became a part of the pop group Diva with Aleksandra Vukojević and Duo Latino, before becaming a writer. Suzana Perović switched to more commercial folk music and released a few semi-successful albums before vanishing from the music scene.
