ASL Poetry "The Dogs" by Ella Mae Lentz

An ASL poem by Ella Mae Lentz, Performed by Martina Lo Synopsis: The two dogs in actuality represent two groups of sign language--the Doberman identifies as British sign language whereas the Mutt represents another "lowly" sign language. These two dogs find themselves chained together and struggle to break free from each other, only to realize that the chain is what connects them and not what ties them down. This story is used as a metaphor for the cultural discord within the Deaf community. Both are dogs, so why can't they both just be? Likewise, both sign language groups are part of the same community, so why can't they both co-exist?
