Simple tutorial on how to enable G-Sync Compatible setting on Asus ROG XG258Q Monitor and gameplay test for:
1) Call of Duty®: Black Ops 4
2) Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
3) Battlefield V
4) Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege
Result: No screen-tearing encountered. Buttery smooth experienced with this validated G-Sync Compatible monitor.
XG258Q vs PG258Q:-
PG258Q simply more expensive due to a proprietary G-sync module provided by NVIDIA was installed into the monitor. XG258Q is a FreeSync display but as NVIDIA already released the Gsync compatible driver and validated this monitor as one, no issue to proceed with cheaper XG258Q monitor. PG258Q full variable refresh rate range from 1-240Hz, while XG258Q VRR at 48-240Hz. If by any chance the game u play has a noticeable screen tearing, those range is the limit for XG258Q.

Note: CS-GO, Overwatch and other light e-sport games can fully take advantage on the 240Hz monitor on 1080p, but for high demanding AAA games, either turn down the graphic settings or recommended to use powerful GPU if wish to fully utilize the advantages of 240Hz. Either way, 144Hz/240Hz definitely provide a buttery smooth gaming experiences compare to traditional 60Hz monitor.
