Baby Asian elephant: Asian elephant born in Israeli zoo

An endangered Asian female elephant has given birth to her first baby calf at the Ramat Gan Safari park zoo in Tel Aviv. The new-born female elephant, who has yet to be named, is constantly surrounded by her seven-year-old mother, and her 25-year-old grandmother, La Petite. The birth was completely natural, and the female calf is healthy and weighs about 80kg. Any birth of the Asiatic elephant species is significant due to its endangered status. Report by Andrea Lilly.
