Bach to Bach

Game: 'IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad' Song: 'Goldberg Variations - Aria' performed by Daniel Barenboim Story behind event: On route returning from a prolonged and strenuous ground strike raid, myself (flying escort in the Bf 109) and Minipily (flying ground strike in the leaking Bf 110) we were met by three enemy Russian fighters who quickly intercepted and prioritised Minipily as a primary target. This led to Minipily's eventual death as he crashed into a fuel depot after withstanding continuous fire from enemy pilots. This left but only myself to engage the remaining enemy fighters after my failure to save Minipily. However I was soon accompanied by two friendly Bf 109s who joined the action and proceeded to assist in the engagement. The story ends as the (considerably better flying) Bf 109 pilots who greatly assisted me with the removal of Kebab return home after a short and sweet engagement, I am left to attempt a crash landing on the friendly airfield due to critical aircraft damage. This subsequently saved my life and my plane was not beyond repair. The only causalities sustained during this engagement was the losing of Kapitän Minipily and his honorary Bf 110 crew. Nor his aircraft, his crew or he himself survived the impact. Their brave sacrifice will remain in our hearts for generations to come.
