This is your story. Welcome to the Survivor Diaries. DayZ - along with Battlefield 3 - was one of the games that originally inspired me to launch my channel back in 2011 so bear with me for a longer (and very nostalgic) introduction for today's video: In 2012 the DayZ mod led to some of the most intense and memorable moments I've ever experienced in a game. Nothing else had ever come close to capturing that full "Walking Dead" survival experience where the dangers of hunger, disease and the infected were all second to the dangers of a distant gunshot... or the fellow survivor watching you without you knowing it. To this day no other game has captured that original experience. The development of the full stand-alone version of DayZ has been a rocky road to say the least but here in summer 2019 I finally gave in to my curiosity and jumped back into the game to see what had changed. While there are still many missing features I was amazed to see how far the game had come. This video covers the life of my first real character that survived more than just a few days in-game as I got my bearings once again. It culminates with a terrifying in-game night of desperate survival as we fight to get our bearings, avoid starvation... and avoid the bandits that come out to hunt in the dark. The heart pounding experiences in this video are some of the most intense I've had in any game since the original 2012 DayZ mod.
