I was asked by a friend to repair their B&O Beomaster Amplifier / Receiver. Bang & Olufsen used a motorized mechanism via rubber belts to adjust the controls for Volume / Bass / Treble and Balance on this amp, through the actuation of the buttons on the front console. These belts stretch over the years and get hard, which affects the functionality of these controls. It's a bit of a fiddly exercise to remove the belts as it requires the removal of the clutch / pulley shaft, which is attached to a motor / gear reduction mechanism, as well as the black display ribbons. Each belt has to be removed through a small gap between the potentiometers with tweezes. Their were also a number of globes that needed replacement as well. The unit is now reassembled and all the control functions are now fully operational. Have a look at the video.
