Classics like the Fat Bob, Yukon and Canyon among many. But then for some reason, the snowboard industry decided that big guys didn’t need to ride big boards anymore, and they all disappeared, leaving riders scrambling for a compromise that wouldn’t ruin their riding experience. Well those days are now at an end, step forward the all Bataleon Stallion. Designed and built specially for the bigger rider, this truly stunning high performance all terrain board combines top end construction with wide and powerful shape, to deliver a mind-blowing ride across the whole mountain. Heading up the Stallions all terrain credentials is the re-engineered directional twin chassis, with a waist width of 26.8cm on the 164 and a whopping 27.5cm on the 167, no matter how big you are it’s not going to be an issue. Now maybe one of the reasons why those super wide boards disappeared could have been down to their Supertanker like performance, ‘put them on the edge and just wait for it to happen’. Thankfully, the Stallion’s state of the art 3BT shape, consigns that unresponsive ride to history, this board is a just a revelation to ride. The combination of traditional camber, 3rd generation 3BT base and the new SideKick upturns at the tip and tail really bring this board alive and help deliver a level of response and control that embarrasses many a traditional width board. Now as the Stallion is all about performance Bataleon don’t hold anything back when it comes to construction, and heading this up is the powerful Reactor light wood core. This combines poplar and paulownia with bamboo stringers along the edges to create a lightweight but powerful core. This is then matched with Bataleon’s exclusive Tri-Ax Plus glass structural layers to create a torsionally stiff flex, but more importantly once again reduce weight, ensuring that although this board is big, it just doesn’t feel it under your feet. With additional carbon fibre stringers running tip to tail and the super-fast Ultra Glide S base, the Stallion has everything in place to truly blow your mind and once again means that at long last your snowboarding doesn’t have to be a compromise.
