In November 2014 there was an incident in Tbilisi, transgender Sabi Beriani was murdered and burned in her apartment.
The official version is that she owed money to the murderer, but as relatives and friends deny this version, the real motive is still unknown.
The reason that triggered me to make a project, were people, who were actively justifying the murderer. Lots of people called him a patriot, who was cleaning the country from demons. Unfortunately many people in Georgia share similar ideas which pose an imminent threat to members of transgender community.
So I decided to enter and show Bianka’s everyday life.
My intention is to transform ideas about identity that is an object of fear which in turn is followed by hatred and rejection. So it is very hard for one, to come out of the shadow. Especially when one is not considered as a part of society and her/his existence is permanently threatened.
The main purpose of this project is to change aggressive and violent perception of individuals, with whom society is not familiar.
