Join us as we take them to see some of the sights that is WEST TEXAS. Santa Elena Canyon is located on the most Western part of the Big Bend National Park and is about a 40 minute drive from the Chisos Basin. The hike into the canyon is relatively easy but the lack of a breeze and the sweltering heat from the low lying area was stifling. While staying in Big Bend National Park, we elected to stay in the Chisos Lodge located in the Chisos Basin. Temperatures in low lying lands in the park can reach into the 100's F during the summer. But you can count on a temperature differential of at least 10 degrees or more when in the higher elevations of the Chisos. Granted summer is not the best time to visit the park but schedules some times can't be altered. The best times to visit the park are in the Fall and Spring. Good news!
