The Black box HD DVR dash cam is a super slim in car recorder that'll capture such brilliantly clear footage that is able to clearly distinguish objects at high speed many hundred of metres away.
This camera features a 170° wide angle lens combined with 1080p full HD video recording at 30 fps or 720p at 60 fps for an even smoother image which gives it the capacity for a superb filming experience. On top of all of this it also features a 12 megapixel sensor with a high dynamic range function so as to not be affected by dim light or bad weather conditions.
The camera itself is credit card sized and super slim and is housed in a metal casing giving it a great quality product feel. The camera features a 2.7” LCD high- definition screen, moving onto the cameras party piece, it features a 4 button touch sensitive buttons making this one of the easiest camera to use on the market to date! These 4 buttons are as follows; Menu at the top, two navigation arrows and select at the bottom. There is one manual button on the camera at the top for turning it on and off to.
What comes in the box is quite simple you have a stand and charging cable but don’t see this as a negative feature, the stand is great and is adjustable in all three axis so perfect positioning can be attained. The stand locks on to the camera by a screw and nut mechanism making it nice a reliably secure as I’ll show you in the video.
Continuing to software, the camera opens up into the recording window from here the menu for recording and general setting can be selected. In the recording window; resolution, motion detection and the like can be selected as well as 8 other settings. The general settings are similar to most camera on the market but one thing that stands out is the camera infrared system, though not tested the camera features a strong LED light that claims to be able to “reach 5-8m without a light source”, how effective this is remain sceptical. The select button at the bottom is used to navigate between functions and from here the still image camera feature can be selected and adjusted appropriately.
It is very difficult to find any negatives with this camera but I did have some issues with the touch buttons at times being a little temperamental but this was few and far between. The only other minor detail is that there are perhaps more advanced cameras out there going by settings and functionality making this look a little basic at times but it does this basics very well making up for any shortcomings.
To summarise, this is an excellent mid range car camera, great for all weathers with really sensitive recording ability. It performs its capabilities very well and provides the user with an excellent tool for capturing great footage.
