Hey, friends!
I continue my Blackmagic Pocket 4K learning process and I recently came across the problem of not having Blackmagic False Color Map on my external monitor (in this case SmallHD 702). You can output False Color via HDMI but the quick access button works only for BMPCC 4K screen and doesn't turn false color on you external monitor, so you have to go to HDMI menu, turn it on and off each time.
I wanted to be able to quickly switch to false color "on the fly" from my external monitor. Since SmallHD supports custom false color maps it seemed not to be a problem. But...lovely Blackmagic doesn't provide any reference for IRE values (other than mentioning middle grey 18% at 38.2 IRE on scale) to recreate the map.
I had to set up a scene and recreate the map on SmallHD, looking at the Blackmagic map and reverse engineering values ;)
And..here you have them!! :)
I've also noticed that while pressing LUT button to monitor with LUT on bmpcc 4k while false colors stay the same on the camera screen (as they should!) it effects hdmi signal and thus, your external monitor false colors. That's why I recommend using LUT on your external monitor (if it supports viewing luts) and your false colors will stay true to reality.
As always, I'll be happy to hear your opinions and suggestions in the comments section below.
