Blood Bowl Legendary Goblins vs Halflings Part 1

As requested, the Gobbo/Halfling pairing reversed. Since there was no Halfling team in sight in my Gobbo campaign I played an exhibition match instead. Now you'll notice I don't use any of my specialty gobbos in the first half. The reason is simple: Since the adversary started with the ball and I had no idea how long it would take for anyone to score, I figured it'd be wiser to use them once I get the ball in the second half to maximize my chances of scoring. Therefore the first half was played defensively, simply trying to prevent any openings in my defense and avoid too much physical contact which is rather dangerous for the fragile goblins. Still since the opponent is a halfling team, gobbos can stand toe to toe with them. Against a stronger team, I'd keep the enemy at bay as much as possible to force them to attack me by blitzing. As for secret weapons, the looney is pretty useful but dangerous to use. I usually prefer using it with a blitz so it doesn't get knocked out of the game too fast. The fanatic is of course a monster and you'll want him on the front line where he can do the most damage. The trick is not to take too many Go For Its and use him as a corner of your box when you're turtling ahead. The bombardier is new to this edition and he brings a lot of risk but plenty of fun to games. I like to use him at the end of my turn in case I get a fumbled pass and cause a turnover. Also you'll want to avoid throwing a grenade near your players unless you're desperate for a game altering play. The pogo stick of doom is no longer a secret weapon which means you can use it as much as you want, which is definitely a plus for Goblin teams. You still have 3 secret weapons you need bribes to protect but the pogo stick can definitely help when you're on the offense. The trolls of course will be your doorstops. Sometimes it's better not to try and move them to avoid a negative really stupid roll. At least that way they still have their tackle zones and can drop opponents trying to squeak through your line by dodging. Ultimately though, gobbos can't ignore the facts: they suck. You can still win against non bashy teams on a regular basis but don't expect to do it often. Even the best players can only win with gobbos about half of the time (and I may be too generous here). So this team won't win you championships, at least not against live players =) I had a lot of success vs the AI since well... it stinks. But even then you can't always cheat death and eventually the team's weaknesses will catch up to you. As for halflings, well they're worst than goblins so there's not much else to say =)
