In this video, BOD stands for "Birth Of Dreams", the music that accompanies the story. In 1967 SONY released the TC 104 Hi Fi mono "tapecorder", a machine of remarkable sonic ability. I dreamed of owning such a machine, but never had the money. 42 years later, thanks to E-Bay, my dream came true. And here it is -- in all it's original glory. This video is sponsored by: Forestdale Tone Poems Inspired By Nature Neoclassical Music CD. 12 wide pan stereo tracks of beautiful mood enhancing and inspiring neoclassical music composed and performed by Tim Thompson with his fabulous XV synthesizer orchestra. For more information and to buy the album direct from ClydeSight Productions, or individual tracks as MP3 downloads from CD Baby, or select MP3 stores, please visit: http://www.clydesight.com/forestdale ********* In the late 1960's SONY was rocking the tape recorder market with machines of remarkable engineering and quality. The SONY TC 104 monophonic hi fidelity reel to reel tape recorder was a prime example of SONY quality, simplicity, elegance and stunning sonic impact. The vintage tape recorder is long since gone in the market, but occasionally appears on E-Bay. I found this recorder at a very good price because it had some serious problems. It needed new belts (replaced) and the main drive idler wheel is dried and cracked with oxidation due to age. Nevertheless, I was able to coax it back into functionality and the SONY TC 104 reel to reel tape recorder has come back to life, vibrant as ever. This video presents an exploration of the complete vintage reel to reel tape recorder including the inner mechanism with a twist. Instead of having me banter on and on about it, I have set the video to music, appropriately enough called: The Birth of Dreams. The musical track was recorded on this tape recorder from the wide pan stereo CD, and is presented as a direct feed into the video camera for faithful reproduction of the tape recorder's remarkably good recording quality. Imagine a 42 year old piece of vintage equipment able to manage a modern all digital CD sound! That's SONY, they were way ahead of their time! Enjoy the video, and don't forget to buy the CD for even more beautiful sounds! *********** Copyright Disclaimer: This is an educational video, a critique, and report on an historic piece of vintage audio electronic equipment that is no longer manufactured or sold in stores.
