The Boss FZ-2 Hyperfuzz was produced from 1993 to 1997 as a modern take on the classic 70's Shin ei / Univox Superfuzz that utilized an active tone stack and provided three distinct modes of operation: Fuzz 1 - Vintage style, mids forward fuzz. Fuzz 2 - Modern style, bass heavy, mids scooped fuzz. Boost - Level control is disabled. Offers up to +24dB of gain with bass / treble controls remaining active. The Boss FZ2 pedal has continued to rise in popularity over recent years, mainly due to it's use by Jus Oborn of Electric Wizard and more recently Thomas Jager of Monolord, and used market prices have risen into the $200-300 range. The Behringer SF300 Superfuzz is a clone of the Boss FZ-2 Hyprefuzz pedal, enclosed in a cheaper, plastic housing, and is typically priced at $25.
