On 1 May in Farnborough, UK, Guiness World Record Holder and legendary British test pilot Captain Eric 'Winkle' Brown, CBE, DSC, AFC, HonFRAeS RN gave a lecture in support of a project to build a statue to Britiain's first 'test pilot' S.F. Cody.
In this lecture, Capt Brown speaks without notes on the lure of speed, the motivation of test pilots, his time on the aircraft carrier HMS Audacity and his outstanding flight test career.
Eric's life spans meeting a WW1 ace, visiting the 1936 Olympics, carrier aviation, flying captured WW2 axis aircraft, and post-war jet and supersonic research. A fluent German speaker, he also interrogated many leading German aviation and space experts - including Kurt Tank and Werner Von Braun.
A remarkable lecture by a remarkable aviator.
