Catholic seminarian Michael Nnadi has been murdered in Nigeria. The news was confirmed by Aid to the Church in Need. The Rector of the seminary identified the body of the seminarian. Aid to the Church in need urged the faithful to pray for the soul of the departed. Michael Nnadi and three other students were kidnapped last month by armed militants from their seminary in Kaduna state. Later the other three students were released.
Pope Francis donates 700,000 masks to China to help combat Coronavirus
The Global Times reported that the Vatican has donated 700,000 masks to China to help fight Coronavirus. According to The Global Times report, Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, the Papal Almoner, took the initiative to send the masks to China. Last week, Pope Francis prayed for the victims of the Coronavirus after the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square. The virus has killed at least 361 people in China. More than 17,238 people have been infected across the country.

The Holy Father encouraged them to persevere with dedication in their works.The Holy Father said it is necessary to stimulate the collaboration of all, to meet the needs of the sick with a spirit of service and an attitude of generosity and sensitivity. Pope Francis also expressed his closeness to the sick people in the facilities of the Villa Maria Care & Research Group. Villa Maria Care & Research Group is an Italian hospital group founded in 1973.
Bishops express concern over 'assisted dying' laws
Archbishop Richard Gagnon, The president of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops has written a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressing the Canadian Bishops serious concern regarding the government’s plan to expand euthanasia law. He urged the Government of Canada to undertake a more extensive, thorough, impartial, and prolonged consultation on the question, in order to ensure all pertinent factors – social, medical, and moral – are carefully and thoroughly considered. Archbishop Richard Gagnon said that the government’s attempt to expand euthanasia to include advance directives, as well as extending it to situations in which death is not reasonably foreseeable, is deeply troubling. The Archbishop said we should promote a society in which human life would be received and treated as a gift, and supported in the face of physical, emotional and spiritual vulnerability and suffering.
