On the eleventh of September 1819, the Brussels based lodge "Les Vrais Amis de l'Union" received a very special visitor. At that time, Grand Master Prince Frederik of Oranje-Nassau, second son of King Willem I, was establishing his presence in the southern provinces of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands (modern day Belgium). This song, dedicated to the prince, confirms the strong ties between both parts of the country, but does mention the word "belge", referring to a separate identity, more than a decade before the Belgian Independence from the Netherlands. (Stefan Vandenbroucke: text adaptation and solo voice & Alexander Makay: musical arrangement and guitar)
